If this is a GenEd class, include the appropriate GenEd objectives. In the boxes below, summarize the methods used to assess course outcomes during the last year. Include the criterion youll use to judge whether or not students have achieved the expected outcome. In the boxes below, summarize the results of your assessment activities during the last year. Include your judgement as to whether or not the criterion for student acheivement has been met.In the boxes below, summarize how you plan to use the results to improve student learning.Outcome #1: Students will thoroughly describe the principles of radiologic physics including x ray circuitry, photon production, photon interaction with the body and x ray image production, including digital imaging and viewing concepts. Assessment Measure: Final Exam Criterion for achievement: 80% of students will complete their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higherResults: 10/14 (71%) completed their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higher Criterion Met: NoAction Plan: Continue current processes with a couple additions including: Adding ASRT practice exams beginning in RAD 226 Provide student ASRT membership to include studying roadmap Add course assignments to require student studying throughout the semesterOutcome #2: Students will be able to evaluate radiographic images for essential criteria and identify how improvements should be made. Assessment Measure: Final Exam Criterion for achievement: 80% of students will complete their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higherResults: 10/14 (71%) completed their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higher Criterion Met: NoAction Plan: Remove this objective from this course. This objective is thoroughly covered in RAD 225, 226 and 227 and can be assessed more accurately in the clinical environment.Outcome #3: Students will be able to identify extensive human anatomy on radiographs, diagrams and images of other imaging modalities and determine how movement of such anatomy will affect resultant images. Assessment Measure: Final Exam Criterion for achievement: 80% of students will complete their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higherResults: 10/14 (71%) completed their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higher Criterion Met: No Action Plan: Continue current processes with a couple additions including: Adding ASRT practice exams beginning in RAD 226 Provide student ASRT membership to include studying roadmap Add course assignments to require student studying throughout the semester Include EAQ activities throughout the semesterOutcome #4: Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills in their evaluation of radiographic principles, radiation protection, patient positioning and production of images. Assessment Measure: Final Exams Criterion for achievement: 80% of students will complete their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higherResults: 10/14 (71%) completed their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higher Criterion Met: No Action Plan: Continue current processes with a couple additions including: Adding ASRT practice exams beginning in RAD 226 Provide student ASRT membership to include studying roadmap Add course assignments to require student studying throughout the semester Include EAQ activities throughout the semester Require journaling of difficult conceptsOutcome #5: Students will demonstrate knowledge of radiation biology, legal standards for imaging equipment and how to apply that knowledge to imaging under the concept of ALARA. Assessment Measure: Final Exams Criterion for achievement: 80% of students will complete their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higher achievement:Results: 10/14 (71%) completed their final exam grade (average of Day 1 and Day 2 Review testing) with a 76% or higher Criterion Met: No Action Plan: Add an additional measurable project assignment to better assess this objective. Notes: Overall, the RAD 240 course was successful for its first offering. The lectures and testing opportunities proved beneficial to student learning. However, the measurements planned for this course did not work well. Due to the overwhelming workload, additional assignments were not required on a weekly basis and therefore could not work toward assessment. Other planned measurement tools such as live discussion, etc., were difficult to properly assess and therefore were not included as a final measurement tool. In further assessment, Objective 2 did not fit well in this course because there was no hands on experience. In addition, the extent to which this objective could be assessed in exams was variable. Therefore, this objective will be removed for future offerings because it is thoroughly assessed in other program courses. The main useful assessment tool in this course was the Final Exam. This continues to be a very useful tool, but the expected criteria for this tool was not met. In order to improve performance in meeting this criteria, the following will be included in the next course offering: a. Adding ASRT practice exams beginning in RAD 226 b. Provide student ASRT membership to include studying roadmap c. Add frequent course assignments to require student studying throughout the semester d. Include EAQ activities throughout the semester In addition, more measurable assessment tools will be included in the next offering of this course. These will include a journaling requirement that will be submitted for a grade, and a Radiobiology project assignment.
