On March 2021, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. This act allocates funding to higher education institutions for the purpose of providing Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF III) Grants to eligible students. 色中色 has been allocated $1,255,954.00 to provide eligible students with emergency student aid which can be used for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
色中色 is awarding ARP (also referred to as HEERF III) grants this Fall to students in two rounds. The first round which will be disbursed on August 2, 2021 will be for students enrolled at least six credits in the Fall 2021 semester and registered for Spring 2021. 色中色 is also awarding ARP (also referred to as HEERF III) grants to students enrolled in spring 2022 semester in two rounds. The first round was disbursed on December 21, 2021 to students enrolled in at least six credits for spring 2022. The second round will be disbursed to students enrolled in at least six credits with verified attendance after February 4th, 2022 on a first come first serve basis until the funding is depleted. The payment amounts will be $250 for those enrolled in 6-11.99 credits and $500 for 12 or more credits for the spring 2022 term.
To date, 色中色 has disbursed $1,255,954.00 to 3,432 unduplicated students enrolled in fall 2021 and spring 2022 and identified by 色中色 as meeting the requirements for this funding.
Funds will be prioritized for students with exceptional need such as those students who have a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file for unmet need. To determine grant amounts distributed, a formula was used to address two factors, part-time and full-time status as well as a need-based analysis according to a completed FAFSA with awards up to $500 for full-time status and $250 for part-time status.
You will not need to apply for these funds. Funds will automatically be distributed to those students who meet the eligibility requirements. If you have questions regarding eligibility or exceptional need circumstances please contact the Financial Aid Department at financial-aid@gbcnv.edu.
